Sunday morning, veterans and their families gathered at the Polish Falcons Club to enjoy breakfast with their community.
The Erie Crawford Central Labor Council hosted the event, and it’s their 9th annual Veterans Day breakfast.
Erie’s tribute to veterans highlights sacrifice and service
Organizers said that this year’s event had a great turnout and that they were grateful to be able to fulfill a part of their mission by recognizing those who sacrificed their lives for the community.
Ken Vybiral, Erie Crawford Central Labor Council event organizer, said, “We probably doubled our turnout from last year, so we were definitely able to get the word out a lot sooner and spread the word. It was free to veterans and their families. Just a great opportunity to come down and have a shared meal and that comradery that comes with gathering and being able to break bread together.”
Restaurants around town offering discounts, free items for Veterans Day
Vybiral said that there are even more veterans day festivities coming up, including the Pennsylvania Soldier and Sailors Home commemorating the 250th anniversary of the Marine Corps on Monday.
