Multiple people were critically hurt in a major accident in West Deptford Township in Gloucester County on Sunday night, emergency officials said.
The accident occurred at the intersection of Red Bank & Hessian Avenue, officials said. The crash involved three vehicles and lead to multiple people getting critically injured, however the exact number of people injured is not yet known.
A person who spoke with NBC10 said they heard a loud bang at around 5:45 p.m. The person then went outside to find the mangled crash.
Surveillance video showed a car speeding down Hessian Avenue and then crossing through Red Bank Avenue when the crash happened.
The surveillance video also showed police arriving just seconds after the crash. An employee at a gas station about a quarter of the mile away from the crash told NBC10 that he called police just before the crash happened because several people were causing a disturbance there.
The people fled when police arrived, the employee said.
Police were seen at the gas station later on Sunday evening, but there are still many unanswered questions as to what lead to the crash and why.
Officials said the intersection will be closed for a lengthy investigation.
