A motorcyclist was hospitalized late Tuesday after being hit by a car on Pittsburgh’s North Side.

The driver fled from the scene, abandoning the vehicle nearby.

The hit-and-run occurred just feet from the police bureau’s Western Avenue headquarters.

Pittsburgh police officers and paramedics were dispatched around 9:30 p.m. for the crash at the intersection of Western Avenue and Fontella Street, police spokeswoman Cara Cruz said Thursday.

They found the motorcyclist, who police have not named, on the ground and unconscious, Cruz said. He regained consciousness at the scene and paramedics took him to a local hospital in stable condition.

No arrests have been made. Cruz said plainclothes detectives are investigating.
