After another busy summer serving generations of Erie residents and visitors, Sara’s Restaurant on Peninsula Drive at Presque Isle officially closed for the season Wednesday.

The longtime seasonal favorite wrapped up its 2026 season with plenty to celebrate, including the continued popularity of one of its most iconic menu items. According to the restaurant’s owner, the famous Orange Twist once again claimed the title of best-selling treat, remaining a must-have stop for customers visiting Presque Isle throughout the summer months.

This season also marked the return of several original menu items from Sara’s past, giving longtime patrons a chance to revisit some of the flavors that helped make the restaurant a local tradition. Customers embraced the nostalgic offerings, with many enjoying the opportunity to reconnect with favorite foods from years gone by.

The owner said bringing back those classic menu items was a highlight of the season and credited customers for the enthusiastic response. Encouraged by that success, the restaurant hopes to reintroduce even more beloved favorites when it reopens next year.

For many Erie-area families, a trip to Sara’s is considered a summertime tradition, whether for a meal after a day at the beach or a sweet treat before heading home. As the doors close for the season, fans of the restaurant will have to wait until next spring to once again enjoy the Orange Twist and other classic Sara’s favorites.
