A lot of opinions on the weather and forecast, so here’s the latest.

If you’re in the purple, it’s a Winter Weather Advisory (Erie City & Lakeshore as well as most of the rest of the surrounding counties) into Tuesday which means traveling can be difficult at times, but snow accumulations will not be huge. In Erie County around 1- maybe 3″ closer to the lake to 3-6″ closer to I-90.

IF you’re in Erie County, South of I-90 (blue/green) you have a Lake Effect Snow Warning which means you’re probably good for 6″ or more.

If you’re in Crawford County, heaviest amounts will be in the north where there could be 6″ or more and then tapering down to closer to 3″ or less to the south.

If you’re in Warren County, you have a Winter Storm Watch (blue), which means you might get 1-3″ in the next 24 hours with some possible heavier amounts Monday Night & Tuesday.

Putting this all into perspective, here are a few facts.

The rain or showers will change to snow this later evening and overnight-probably between 8PM and Midnight, depending on where you are.

The snow will come and go over the next couple of days.

That means it will melt and settle at times.

Wind will pick up tomorrow into Tuesday.

If you’re in the advisory (like Erie and the Lakeshore) amounts will be lighter/less because it’s warmer and it takes more time to stick and accumulate.

The best times for accumulation are overnight into the morning when it’s colder.

The higher elevations of the snowbelts south of 90 get the biggest amounts because they are cold, and snow can accumulate faster and in greater quantity.

This is nothing new for November. It’s happened many times.

It’s not a repeat of last Black Friday’s storm.

Use common sense in driving and dressing, and we’ll keep you updated on any changes

There will be more sun for the rest of the week into next weekend, with melting of whatever falls Sunday night into Tuesday.

Stay tuned for further updates and more details on accumulations and timing from our weather team online and on air over the next few hours and when changes warrant over the next couple of days.
