BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Following the debut of its second Lehigh Valley location over the summer, a popular retailer is continuing to expand its local footprint with another store set to open later this month.

A new location of SNIPES, a worldwide chain offering sneakers, streetwear, hats and accessories, is tentatively set to open next week at 2100 W. Union Blvd. in Bethlehem, SNIPES District Manager Jackie Tarantola told 69 News.

A SNIPES store is coming soon to 2100 W. Union Blvd. in Bethlehem.

“The current target [opening] date is Oct. 8,” Tarantola said. “However, that could fluctuate and change.”

The forthcoming Bethlehem store will operate at the Lehigh Shopping Center and will supplement two other Lehigh Valley SNIPES locations – a roughly four-year-old store at the Palmer Park Mall in Palmer Township and a store that opened in late August at the Plaza West shopping center at 1616 W. Allen St. in Allentown.

SNIPES founder Sven Voth opened the first SNIPES store in 1998 in Essen, Germany, “with a simple but bold idea: bring a massive, curated selection of sneakers and streetwear into one space — for the people who actually live the lifestyle,” according to an account on the business’ website.

The concept took off and has continued to grow year after year, with more than 800 stores now spanning Europe and the United States.

The company’s entry into the U.S. market came in 2019.

“When SNIPES entered the United States, we didn’t come to ‘start over,’” an online message reads.

“We came to build with the culture that was already here. That meant joining forces with iconic regional retailers — brands that served their communities for decades and helped define what sneakers and streetwear meant in their cities. SNIPES in the U.S. is powered by that legacy. This is not just expansion. This is family.”

Customers can browse clothing such as sweatshirts, T-shirts, jerseys, jackets, pants and shorts, along with footwear such as basketball shoes, running shoes, casual sneakers, boots and slip-ons.

Stores also feature accessories such as bags and hats.

“SNIPES is a head-to-toe outfitter for street culture: sneakers, apparel, headwear, and accessories — built for everyday wear and standout moments,” an online message reads.
