Fall in Philadelphia is really a very beautiful time of year. And that means it time for the Top 5 Fall Activities in Philly! Despite the fact that I am a summer girly, I can respect the crisp fall mornings and a crackling fire in the evenings. And fall means football and that makes me happy.
So here are the Top 5 Fall Activities to do in and around Philly. And this list is not all inclusive, there are so many fun things to do this time of year in Philadelphia and beyond. Let me know your favorites!
Boo at the Zoo has been going on since I can remember and I’ve never been! That’s changing this year, I will make it one of these weekends. And you have Saturdays and Sundays from October 10th through November 1st to get yourself there as well. You can even enjoy Boo at the Zoo on Monday October 12th. Get your best costumes on and head to the zoo for some fun trick or treating with all the animals.
Peddler’s Village is a wonderful destination anytime of the year, but the holidays really bring out the best that they have to offer. And that includes Scarecrows in the Village. Enjoy this autumn tradition everyday from September 7th through October 26th. Over 100 scarecrows line the pathways of Peddler’s Village showing off their fun costumes and personalities. Some are funny, some are spooky and some are inspired by your favorite famous character. And you can vote on your favorite scarecrow through Peddler’s Village mobile app until October 14th.
I posted my Top 5 Haunted Attractions in and around the city and few weeks ago and the list stands! But there are a ton of places you can go this time of year if you want to have nightmares. From the city to the shore, Philly and the surrounding area are full of spooky corn fields, houses and former jails. Just pick the one closest to you or explore one that you’ve never visited. Happy Halloween!
Manayunk is such a cool spot for a festival and the fall fest is perfect. From 11am until 4pm on Saturday, October 17th, you can walk up and down Main Street Manayunk and enjoy food trucks, live music, local vendors and artists and there’s even a Mac n’ Cheese Crawl. (Right up my alley!) The festival is family friendly as well.
Fall season in New Hope would not be complete without a trip on the New Hope Railroad. The trip will take you from New Hope to Buckingham, Pennsylvania, Bucks County. Enjoy beautiful countryside views and the fall foliage this time of year is spectacular! It’s a 90 minute ride so it’s not too long and not too short. The trip runs from October 2nd through November 1st. Ticket prices vary depending on class, departure time and date and the demand. Advance online reservations are suggested.
As always, this list is not all there is to do in the Fall in Philadelphia and the surrounding suburbs. Let me know what you enjoy this season!
