Rochester, N.Y. — Officials cut the ribbon Tuesday on a newly improved stretch of the Erie Canalway Trail.
The New York State Canal Corporation celebrated the completion of a $3.9 million rehabilitation of the trail over a four-mile stretch between Lyell Avenue and Mount Hope Avenue.
The project include paving, safety improvements, drainage enhancements and strengthened connectivity.
Mayor Malik Evans said the upgrades “will make this section safer and more welcoming for people of all abilities.”
“You should not be worried about being able to go on the trail if you use a wheelchair or have some mobility issue,” Evans said. “The Canal Corporation has prioritized ADA accessibility, and we’re so grateful for the investment that they have made.”
