Marcie CiprianiALLEGHENY COUNTY, Pa. —

Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hall will serve as Allegheny County’s first satellite election office, opening Wednesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.

Inside the auditorium, voters will receive an application to fill out, which they can complete while seated.

Afterward, they will proceed through several stations to finalize their voting process.

“The staff will process the application through the state’s SURE system, and then they’ll go over here to the other side of the stage,” said Jessica Garofolo, director of administrative services for Allegheny County. “They’ll get their ballot printed. Again, they can either sit in one of the chairs with a clipboard, or they can use one of the privacy screens off to the side, and they can complete their ballot. Then they’re going to go right back up to where they came in from, and they’re going to turn their ballot in.”

How it Works

Ballots will be handled as mail-in ballots, using a secrecy envelope and a drop box on-site. Instructions are posted inside the privacy booths. Voters also have the option to take their ballot home and mail it in later.

The satellite offices aim to streamline the voting process.

“If history repeats itself, we had a long line in 2024, which is the last time we were at this location,” Garofolo said. “The first day it was steady throughout the day. We saw maybe a 15-minute wait. By day two, it was up to an hour-long wait.”

Additional satellite offices will open across the county starting October 17.
