Fall calendars are filling quickly and here are a few more dates to consider adding to the activity list.

Parade fans will want to stake out a good viewing spot at the four-way stop intersection of Main Road East, Main Road West and Vera Cruz Road in the Village of Vera Cruz Oct. 14 for the annual Vera Cruz Halloween Parade.

Hosted by the Vera Cruz Community Association, the annual parade will form at Mystic Chain Park, 3718 Main Road East and start promptly 7 p.m.

A personal favorite line? “It jumped out from the bushes. It almost killed us, I swear to God.”

There will be light refreshments available.

The spine-tingling fun continues at the library Oct. 28 with the program “Of Schpucks (Spirits), Graveyards and Disguises: A History of All Hallows Eve.”

Hosted by the group Friends of the Southern Lehigh Library, the program is intended for adults. Doors open 6:30 p.m. and the program starts 7 p.m. There is a cost.

Visit the library website www.solehipl.org for details on these and other programs and events offered, including a special nature program for children presented by the Lehigh County Conservation District scheduled Oct. 30. Many of the programs require registration.

On Oct. 29, the Upper Milford Historical Society will present Doug Peters to talk about the history of trolleys in the Lehigh Valley in the program “Lehigh Valley Transit Company 1905-1972” at the Upper Milford Township municipal building, 5671 Chestnut St. The program starts 7 p.m. The meeting also will include the election of Upper Milford Historical Society officers.

Looking ahead, please save the date and mark the calendar for the 29th Annual Bazaar and Filled Basket Auction at Old Zionsville United Church of Christ, 5981 Fountain Road, Old Zionsville, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 14. The event will feature crafters and vendors as well as a door prize drawing, a 50/50 raffle and a bake sale. Light refreshments will be available for purchase.

Trick-or-treat night for Lower Milford Township is scheduled 6-8 p.m. Oct. 30 and Upper Milford Township will hold trick-or-treat night 6-8 p.m. Oct. 31.

Please be aware and mindful of diminutive ghosts, ghouls, goblins, superheroes and other costumed friends on township streets and roads as they make their way through neighborhoods on these festive occasions.
