The organization, which recently became an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit, will host its inaugural fundraiser on October 10, featuring a special screening of the classic horror film “House on Haunted Hill” at the Erie Playhouse.

The event will showcase the 1959 film directed by legendary horror filmmaker William Castle, who became famous for creating immersive theatrical experiences he called “Emergo.” Castle’s unique promotional techniques included effects designed to bring audiences into the action, such as vibrating theater seats and live gimmicks that blurred the line between the movie and reality.

To honor that tradition, Eerie Horror Fest has partnered with the Erie Playhouse to recreate some of Castle’s famous effects while adding a few original surprises of its own.

The evening will begin with a pre-show social hour at 6 p.m., featuring food from BBB Burgers, Brats & Sausages and The SweetErie Ice Cream & Candy Mobile, along with themed cocktails and other spooky activities for attendees.

Organizers also plan to make several announcements about future Eerie Horror Fest projects and programming during the event.

In keeping with the missions of both Eerie Horror Fest and the Erie Playhouse, tickets are being offered on a sliding scale to improve accessibility. Admission starts at $20, which covers the event’s base costs. A recommended ticket level is available for $30, while a $40 supporter ticket helps subsidize lower-cost admission opportunities and supports future programming.

Organizers say all proceeds from the fundraiser will go directly toward supporting staff, participating organizations, and future arts and cultural programming.

Tickets remain available for purchase online here ahead of Saturday’s event.
