The Millcreek Mall celebrated its 50th anniversary, it was a day of festivities on Sunday Nov. 9 with a dazzling drone show.

At 9:00 p.m., hundreds of spectators watched as 200 drones lit up the night sky, forming colorful words and images that highlighted the region and the mall’s history. The display was accompanied by music from the 1970s, adding a nostalgic touch to the celebration.

Guests were invited to bring blankets and lawn chairs, and cars packed the parking lot outside Kirkland’s, the prime viewing spot. Many enjoyed a lively watch party as part of the event.

Earlier in the day, the mall hosted a circus-themed family fun day at Center Court, featuring carnival games, face painting, glitter tattoos, a photo booth, balloons, and live music.

The Millcreek Mall first opened on Nov. 10, 1975. Developed and still owned by the Cafaro Company of Youngstown, Ohio, the mall has evolved over the years, updating and expanding as retail trends change. Thanks to Pennsylvania’s no sales tax on clothing, the mall continues to attract shoppers from New York, Ohio, and Canada.
