Residents across Erie County may hear outdoor warning sirens sounding at 12 p.m. on October 15, as part of a scheduled countywide test of the emergency alert system.
The Erie County Department of Public Safety will conduct the quarterly test to ensure the outdoor warning siren system remains operational and ready in the event of an emergency. Officials emphasize that this is only a test, and there is no cause for concern.
Sirens may be heard in communities throughout the county during the scheduled activation. The routine tests are conducted four times each year, in January, April, July, and October, to verify equipment functionality and maintain emergency preparedness capabilities.
County officials encourage residents to be aware of the test and help spread the word to family, friends, and neighbors to avoid any confusion when the sirens sound.
The Erie County Department of Public Safety thanked residents for their cooperation and continued support in helping keep the community informed, prepared, and safe.
