The rocket carried a Dragon spacecraft with more than 6,300 pounds of science experiments, equipment and supplies for the International Space Station, according to NASA.
The bright cloud surrounding the rocket is known as a “space jellyfish.” It forms when sunlight illuminates the rocket’s exhaust high in the atmosphere while the sky below remains dark.
Dragon is expected to reach the space station at about 11 a.m. Thursday. The mission is SpaceX’s 35th commercial cargo delivery for NASA.
