ERIE, Pa. — Penn State Behrend will roll out a blue-and-white welcome mat at this year’s Families and Alumni Weekend, Oct. 16-18. The program, which includes a carnival, an “ALUMNIght” celebration and tours of the historic Glenhill Farmhouse, is a fall tradition at Behrend.

Registration for the weekend’s events is now open at the Families and Alumni Weekend webpage.

“Fall is such a beautiful time at Behrend, and it provides the perfect backdrop to bring members of the college community together,” Chancellor Ralph Ford said. “We look forward to welcoming our families and alumni back to campus and celebrating all that makes Behrend special.”

The weekend offers something for everyone: a chance to reconnect with classmates, explore campus, or simply soak in the autumn colors.

Friday’s programming will feature “ALUMNIght,” a new event that kicks off the weekend for Behrend alumni. Sponsored by the college’s four academic schools, the come-and-go event will be held from 7-9 p.m. in Dobbins Dining Hall. Alumni from across generations can enjoy food and conversation, reconnect with faculty and fellow alumni, and celebrate their connection to Behrend.

Saturday brings a full day of activities for families and visitors, including a family lunch; carnival; campus walking tours; planetarium shows; and NCAA soccer, volleyball and water polo matches. Guests also can enjoy Berkey Creamery ice cream with the chancellor and explore Glenhill Farmhouse, the former home of the Behrend family, during guided tours.

One of Behrend’s most popular traditions, Midnight Bingo, returns Saturday evening ― with a family-friendly 7 p.m. start time.

Alumni also will have opportunities to connect throughout the weekend, including an Alumni Wine Tour and a new Alumni Affinity Reunion BBQ at Wilson Picnic Grove.
