Monday marks an important date in military history.
250 years ago, John Adams drafted a resolution that created what was then known as the Continental Marines.
A celebration was held at the Marine Corps Monument at Cedar Beach Park in Allentown.
It featured a ceremony, color guard, bugle rendition of the Marine Corps Hymn, and a cake-cutting ceremony.
69 News asked one Marine what it means to be in that uniform.
“A Marine is a lot of things. It’s more than just a uniform that you put on. It’s what some Marines would call, it’s almost like a cult. We’re like a band of brotherhood. You’re always a Marine, no matter what,” said Jeremy Gavin, Marine.
Marines feel a great sense of pride celebrating the milestone birthday this year.
