TOWANDA, P.A. (WENY) — The Pennsylvania State Treasurer and now candidate for Governor, Stacy Garrity, hosted a rally on Monday night in Towanda. Garrity spoke out about several issues while surrounded by supporters and her family members.

Garrity served in the United States Army Reserve for 30 years and has been the Pennsylvania Treasurer since 2021. In August of this year, she announced her bid as the republican candidate for governor of Pennsylvania, planning to take on the democratic incumbent, Governor Josh Shapiro.

“I think this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” said Garrity. “I mean, we have a government that’s more interested in Pennsylvania Avenue than Pennsylvania.”

Garrity hosted a rally at Villa Sena in Bradford County, her home county, to share her stances on issues such as energy, education, and the economy.

Local, county, and state officials were also in attendance to denounce Governor Shapiro and encourage Pennsylvanians to get out and vote for Garrity in 2026.

“Governor Josh Shapiro is a dangerous, dangerous liberal progressive and we need to take him out,” said Representative Jonathan Fritz of the 111th Legislative District which represents parts of Wayne and Susquehanna Counties. “We need to take him out of office. Friends, the answer, the cure, the remedy, the antidote is in this room and is in the form of a human being that is an amazingly hard worker, wicked smart, a veteran, an absolute spark plug of an individual. That individual is Stacy Garrity.”

In her time as State Treasurer, Garrity says she has broken several records in the position including giving back over a billion dollars in unclaimed property funds and handing out over 500 military decorations.

“Pennsylvanians need somebody that’s going to show up, roll up their sleeves and get the job done,” said Garrity. “And I will be that individual, and I think that, like I tell people, we don’t have to be mediocre, we can be doing so much better.”

Garrity was endorsed by the Pennsylvania GOP back in September.

As for the incumbent candidate, Governor Josh Shapiro, he has not yet announced whether or not he intends to run for a re-election bid in 2026.
