With three of their top five receivers currently sidelined by injury, the Pittsburgh Steelers could probably use some help at wideout.
Per Steelers On SI’s Noah Strackbein, former Steelers wideout JuJu Smith-Schuster will be in Pittsburgh this weekend.
Smith-Schuster, 29, worked out in front of the Minnesota Vikings on Monday. He dealt with knee issues throughout the summer.
Since departing from the Steelers in 2022 to ink a deal with the Kansas City Chiefs, Smith-Schuster has also suited up for the New England Patriots. He won a Super Bowl during his first go-round with Andy Reid’s team, then returned to catch passes from Patrick Mahomes after a one-season sabbatical with Bill Belichick’s crew.
When he joined with the New York Giants this offseason, Smith-Schuster reconnected with former Chiefs offensive coordinator Matt Nagy, but was cut loose a few months later.
The Steelers haven’t yet shown any interest in a reunion with Smith-Schuster, who began his NFL career as a second-round pick (No. 62 overall) in 2017.
He spent the first five go-rounds with the Steelers, posting 111 receptions for 1,426 yards and seven touchdowns in 2018. His breakout effort helped result in superstar pass-catcher Antonio Brown demanding his way out of town.
