Scattered severe storms with damaging winds are possible Friday night in the Lehigh Valley.

Severe storms could move through the region between 4 and 9 p.m., according to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, New Jersey. Max wind gusts between 30 and 35 mph are possible, with higher gusts possible to the north.

Forecasters said a brief tornado is possible, mainly in eastern Pennsylvania.

“Timing looks to be around 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. for the southern Poconos, far northwest New Jersey, and the Lehigh Valley, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. along the I-95 corridor, and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. over Delmarva and southern New Jersey,” meteorologists wrote Friday in their daily forecast discussion. “After sunset, with loss of diurnal heating, the risk for severe weather will diminish.”

All of the Lehigh Valley, as well as neighboring Bucks, Berks, Carbon and Monroe counties, are at a slight risk of severe weather Friday. Significant rainfall accumulation is not likely.
