BETHLEHEM, Pa. – A man died of his injuries over the weekend after being shot in Bethlehem earlier this month.
Quamir J. Davis, 20, of Bethlehem, was pronounced dead Saturday afternoon at a hospital, Lehigh County Coroner Daniel Buglio said in a news release.
Buglio said Davis died of gunshot wounds and that the death is being ruled a homicide.
Bethlehem police said nobody is in custody yet in connection with the shooting.
The shooting happened Thursday, Oct. 8, around 6 p.m., on the 1100 block of Merriman Court in Bethlehem, Buglio said.
As with all criminal death investigations, an autopsy is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 19, at the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office and Forensic Center, Buglio said.
The Bethlehem Police Department, the Northampton County District Attorney’s Office, and the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office & Forensic Center are investigating.
“Our office extends its deepest condolences to Mr. Davis’s family and loved ones during this difficult time,” Buglio said.
Another man was injured in the shooting. In a news release Monday, the Bethlehem Police Department said he has since been released from the hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.
City police said detectives have identified people believed to have been involved in the shooting and are working to establish the circumstances surrounding it. Investigators continue to pursue multiple leads, including forensic evidence analysis and additional methods of evidence collection, police said.
Police said they identified several people who were in the area when the shooting happened and believe the people may have information critical to the investigation.
“We strongly encourage those individuals, as well as anyone else with information, to contact investigators,” police said in the news release.
Anyone who has video footage from the area, including surveillance cameras, doorbell cameras, or cellphone recordings, is encouraged to contact police.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Bethlehem Police Department at 610-865-7000 or email policeintel@bethlehem-pa.gov.
“The Bethlehem Police Department recognizes the devastating impact this act of violence has had on the victim’s family and our community. Our department remains committed to conducting a thorough investigation, identifying and holding those responsible accountable, and ultimately providing a measure of justice and closure to the family of Quamir Davis,” city police said.
