An Upper Darby woman has been charged with receiving stolen property after township police found her driving a stolen Nissan early Monday on 69th Street.
Brandy Weldon, 46, of the 6600 block of Church Lane was charged with receiving stolen property and driving with a suspended license.
According to the criminal complaint filed by Officers Mark Bianchi and Jacob Daniels:
At 1:38 a.m. officers observed an unoccupied white Nissan Altima in the Sunoco station at 69th Street and Marshall Road.
A check of the registration determined the Nissan had been reported stolen in Bristol. Police then saw Weldon enter the vehicle and they stopped her.

A confirmation was sent to Bristol Township police who confirmed the stolen status and a check of the Weldon’s information also determined her license was suspended.
Weldon was committed to the George W. Hill Correctional Facility on Monday in lieu of 10% of $25,000 bail after arraignment by District Judge Mary Hopper. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Nov. 24 before District Judge Harry J. Karapalides.
“With the rise in stolen vehicles throughout the region, our officers continue to stay vigilant and proactive,” said Upper Darby Police Superintendent Timothy Bernhardt. “This is yet another example of officers staying alert, working hard, and doing their part to recover stolen vehicles and prevent future thefts. Excellent work by Officer Daniels and Officer Bianchi for their dedication and professionalism in protecting our community.”
