With Election Day for the November midterms just two weeks away, Pennsylvania officials are urging voters to act quickly on mail-in ballots.

As of this morning, state officials reported that more than 1.2 million mail-in ballots have been requested, and over 634,000 have been returned.

For those planning to vote by mail, there is still time to request a ballot. Secretary of the Commonwealth Al Schmidt emphasized the importance of acting promptly.

“Although the deadline to apply is October 27th, it’s best to allow as much time as possible for your county to receive your application, verify your eligibility, and send your mail ballot for you to fill it out and return,” Schmidt said. “All mail ballots must be received by the County Board of Elections by 8 p.m. on Election Day, so that they can count, and so voters should not delay.”

Nationwide, more than 10 million Americans have already cast their ballots in this year’s midterm elections, according to voting data collected from 41 states and Washington, D.C.

The U.S. Postal Service recommends voters mail their ballots at least a week before the deadline to ensure they are received on time.
