Throughout Erie, many organizations and churches will be giving back to the community as the holiday season approaches. From soup kitchens to drive thru turkeys, the Erie community has you covered for Thanksgiving.
The Sisters of St. Joseph will be having a meal drop off program for those in need. Reservations must be made at (814) 836-4198 before Nov. 18, the meals will be dropped off before the holiday.
Siebenbuerger Club of Erie will have 500 frozen turkeys. The club’s board of directors, staff members, and generous club members had noted the struggles within their community and wanted to come up with a way to help and give back.
On Nov. 22 from 10 a.m. until the turkeys are gone, the club will be handing out the frozen turkey’s drive-thru style. Only one turkey per car, the event is open to the entire community with no stipulations.
Those interested in this opportunity need to enter from the State Street parking lot and exit on the East 21st Street only.
Emmaus Soup Kitchen will have a Thanksgiving meal on Nov. 20 from 3:30 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. All are welcome to join.
Erie City Mission will have 1,200 boxes of Thanksgiving meals available starting at 8 a.m. on Nov. 24 they also have a public lunch available on Nov. 26 from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.
Calamari’s Squid Row will have a takeout style Thanksgiving meal on Nov. 27 from 10:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.
Waterford Pizza and More will have a take-out dinner and limited dine-in option on Nov. 27 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.
Sisters of St. Joseph Neighborhood Network has a community Thanksgiving meal on Monday Nov. 24 with doors opening at 4 p.m. at St. Paul’s Church
