PITTSBURGH —
Every year, People magazine hands down the title of Sexiest Man Alive. This year, that distinction was given to someone with close ties to Pittsburgh, Noah Wyle.
“I thought that sounded like a prank — just not in a million years did I think that this would be an honor bestowed on me,” Wyle told People.
Wyle not only stars as Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch on “The Pitt,” but also serves as an executive producer, writer and director for the Pittsburgh-based medical drama.
The role nabbed him a slew of awards, including the 2025 and 2026 Emmys for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series and a Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Television Series – Drama.
Following the presentation of his Golden Globe award, Wyle stopped backstage to talk about the win and gave a special shoutout to the hospitals in Steel City.
Shouting out the Steel City
“The hospitals in Pittsburgh are some of the gold standard in the nation in terms of care, especially Children’s Hospital, it’s one of the most incredible facilities have ever been to. It was chosen not randomly,” Wyle said.
Wyle’s connection goes beyond being the lead actor in the hospital drama.
“I picked Pittsburgh because I knew we went to college there, so you might like it. Also, my parents met there. My mother was born there. It’s a great city in terms of a variety of socioeconomic class, ethnic breakdown. Because it’s surrounded by farmland, you get a combination of rural and urban cases,” Wyle said. “In the last few years, it’s really remade itself over into a medical hub. So it seemed appropriate. Just a great American city that hasn’t been overshot. You know, it’s not L.A., Chicago, New York, Miami, but representative of the country as a whole.”
Taking a stop at Allegheny General Hospital
The cast of the Pitt, including Wyle, Katherine LaNasa, Taylor Dearden and Patrick Ball were in Pittsburgh Monday touring Allegheny General Hospital ahead of upcoming third season.
“I think Robby’s making his ascension out of the proverbial pit. He’s gone on sabbatical and he’s come back to get the help that everybody’s told him that he should be getting. So I think you’re going to see a slightly more aspirational Robby than you’ve seen before,” Wyle said.
The Bobblehead

Wyle, who could be considered an honorary Yinzer at this point, was honored with a bobblehead giveaway of Dr. Robby at PNC Park this past season.
The first 20,000 fans were able to snag the bobblehead during a game against the Chicago Cubs during Yinzerpalooza Weekend.
