A 23-year-old woman broke into her ex-boyfriend’s Madison Avenue apartment on Monday night after first assaulting him on the street outside his home, Scranton police said.
Armani Coniglio, of Hanover Twp., is charged with burglary, criminal trespass, receiving stolen property and harassment.
According to a criminal complaint, Scranton police responded around 11:30 p.m. to 813 Madison Ave. for a report of a domestic dispute and break-in.
Juan Rivera told officers that Coniglio confronted him on the sidewalk outside his home as he was returning from his job at a pet supply business where they both worked. Rivera said Coniglio began screaming at him, punched him, and reached into his pockets to steal his cigarettes and lighter before placing them in her vehicle.
Coniglio then climbed into Rivera’s apartment through a side window. After a roommate alerted him that she was inside, Rivera confronted her, and she fled before officers arrived, leaving her car behind. Police confirmed Rivera’s stolen belongings were inside the vehicle and searched the area for Coniglio without success.
About an hour later, Rivera called police again to report that Coniglio had returned, reentered the apartment, taken his iPad and keys, and drove away.
Officers located Coniglio nearby shortly after and placed her under arrest. Police found Rivera’s keys in her coat pocket and spotted his iPad on the passenger side of her car.
Coniglio remains at Lackawanna County Prison in lieu of $10,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10:45 a.m. on Nov. 9 before District Judge Laura Turlip.
