The house in Erie that was the scene of a mass shooting that left 10 people dead has been torn down.
On Wednesday, crews with Empire Excavation demolished the home on 722 Perry Street.
On October 9, the 45-year-old gunman killed seven of his family members, an unborn child, and a family friend before taking his own life.
On the day of the shooting, Dennis Flippin went to check on the two women who were shot outside of the home.
“I was on scene,” said Flippin. “I went and checked the one girl, and she didn’t have a pulse.”
Flippin said when he went to check on the other victim, he had a run in with the shooter.
“He came out of the house and pointed his gun at me,” said Flippin. “I guess he thought about it. He did enough damage, so he went back into the house.”
Once all of the debris is cleared from the scene, the city will turn the property into a grass lot.
Meanwhile, Flippin hopes the demolition can help the neighborhood heal.
“It’s probably a relief to the people in the area that were on scene, because there was tons and tons of people out here,” said Flippin. “That’s how I feel about that.”
