A Scranton man threatened to stab his father with a pocketknife when the older man attempted to stop an argument between his son and his son’s girlfriend, according to a criminal complaint.
Vincent Falchetti, 20, faces charges of making terroristic threats, simple assault, harassment and criminal mischief after allegedly trashing his father’s living space.
At about 9 p.m. Tuesday, officers responded to 499 Mulberry St., Mulberry Tower, for the report of a family domestic incident.
Officers spoke with Maylin Sankus, who said Falchetti and his father were fighting.
Police could hear loud banging, smashing and screaming coming from Room 913.
Officers found Falchetti and his father yelling at each other in the room. They noted the area was “completely destroyed” and in disarray.
Because Falchetti was being aggressive, officers put him in handcuffs, according to the criminal complaint.
Falchetti’s father, whose name is also Vincent Falchetti, told officers the couple had come to visit and began arguing with each other.
When Falchetti became aggressive, his father stepped in and tried to calm him down.
When Falchetti stepped up to his father and said, “go ahead and do something,” the older man pushed him away.
Falchetti then charged his father and struck him in the face, chest, shoulders and head, according to the criminal complaint.
When the two separated, Falchetti began to ransack the apartment, ripping down a television, throwing a Nintendo Switch and Xbox One off the wall, and damaging several other items, police said.
Falchetti then pulled out a pocketknife and told his father, “I am going to stab you,” according to the criminal complaint.
The older man pushed Falchetti to the ground and the knife fell out of his hand, just before officers arrived.
Falchetti remains at the Lackawanna County Prison in lieu of $5,000 bail.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on Nov. 10 before District Judge Joanne Corbett.
