BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Halloween fun came a little early in Bethlehem tonight.

Families gathered at City Hall for a free Trunk or Treat event, with candy, pumpkin decorating and plenty of chances to show off their costumes.

For some little trick-or treaters, Halloween can’t come soon enough.

Princess Anna was just one of the many characters getting in on the fun.

“Tonight we have a Trunk or Treat here at Bethlehem City hall at the Plaza where we invite different community partners as well as our Health Zero team to just provide a fun night for our community,” Health Director for the City of Bethlehem, Kristen Wenrich says.

The free event also connects families with organizations offering everything from bike safety to free books.

“One of the things we do best is bring people together,” Mayor J. William Reynolds says.

Mayor Reynolds says the plaza is a place to do just that.

“I think your kids want to find another time to put on their costume other than just trick or treat,” Mayor Reynolds says. “And it’s also another opportunity for candy and hanging out with their friends.”

The energy was contagious; with dancing, plenty of snacks and pumpkin painting.

“Seeing the community appreciate what we’re providing to them is always, you know, a rewarding experience,” Wenrich says.

It’s the second year the city’s health bureau has helped organize the event, with hopes of bringing it back again next Halloween.
