A breezy day is expected Wednesday across the Lehigh Valley, with westerly winds gusting up to 25 mph.

Afternoon temperatures are forecast as cooler than seasonal averages, reaching around 50 degrees. A weak cold front will move through the region overnight, but it’s not expected to bring precipitation.

Tuesday, Veterans Day, in the Lehigh Valley saw wind gusts peak at 45 mph about 11 a.m. at Lehigh Valley International Airport, according to the National Weather Service.

Trace amounts of snow were recorded in communities across the region, including Schnecksville in Lehigh County, Portland in Northampton County, and Belvidere and Hackettstown in Warren County.

The National Weather Service forecast indicates gusty winds will persist through Wednesday afternoon for the Lehigh Valley, with wind speeds averaging 5 to 15 mph amid the higher gusts. Temperatures are expected to drop to the mid-30s overnight.

Thursday will continue the windy trend, with west winds averaging 10 to 15 mph and gusts up to 30 mph. There’s a slight chance of flurries or sprinkles in the higher elevations of the southern Poconos, though no significant precipitation is expected. Temperatures will remain consistent at close to seasonal averages, with highs in the low 50s.

Looking ahead, a clipper system will approach the region Saturday night, potentially bringing light rain that continues into early Sunday afternoon. Sunday is forecast to be warmer, with temperatures climbing into the low 60s. Another cold front will move through, dropping temperatures back below normal on Monday.

Residents should be prepared for persistent winds and fluctuating temperatures over the next few days, with layers recommended for outdoor activities.
