A number of midweek road projects will gum up traffic in the next few days. Here’s where to avoid:
Route 22 – The highway will have single-lane restrictions in both directions in North Fayette on weekdays beginning Wednesday. Crews will work from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. through early December to install traffic monitoring equipment between the Imperial and Hankey Farms interchanges.
Liberty Tunnel – One side of the tunnel will be reduced to one lane during overnight hours Wednesday and Thursday while crews perform maintenance on traffic detection equipment. The inbound tunnel will be restricted from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. Wednesday, and the outbound tunnel will be restricted during the same hours Thursday.
Fort Pitt Tunnel – Electrical work will reduce traffic to one lane inbound from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Wednesday.
Parkway West – The inbound highway will have a single-lane restriction between the West End interchange and the Fort Pitt Tunnel from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday. The restriction will allow crews from the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy to do landscaping.
Thompson Run Road – The northbound lane of the Ross road has reopened at the Thompson Run North Side Bridge No. 2. The road had been reduced to one lane of alternating traffic just north of Evergreen Road since Oct. 27 for repairs to a bridge abutment. The bridge, which is rated in poor condition, carries about 16,520 vehicles a day.
