The Reading academy graduate who spent seven years with the club between 2015 and 2022, making 139 appearances and scoring four goals has returned until the end of the season.

The Zimbabwe international was named Reading’s Player of the Season in his breakthrough 2018/19 campaign, and departed in 2022 after playing a key role in helping the Royals retain their Championship status in 2021/22.

He joined Cardiff City on a free transfer in 2022 to make 82 appearances for the Bluebirds, earning their Players’ Player of the Season award in 2024/25.

The versatile midfielder is already familiar with manager Leam Richardson having been on loan with Rotherham United during the 2023/24 season.

First Team Manager Leam Richardson said: “I’ve worked with Andy before and know exactly what he’ll bring to the squad — energy, honesty and a real desire to win.

“He’s a great professional who knows this club and what it means to represent Reading. I’m delighted to have him back and I’m sure the fans will be too.”

After a successful trial period at Bearwood, ‘Rino’ could make his second debut in front of the home crowd against former side Rotherham United on November 22.

Andy will wear the number 18 shirt.
