HE OF COURSE, YOU KNOW THE MAYOR AFTER MAYOR ELECT O’CONNOR WAS CHOSEN, HE DID REACH OUT TO HIM VIA TEXT AND LET HIM KNOW THAT HE WOULD LIKE TO MEET THE TEAMS MEET AND, YOU KNOW, START TALKING. PLANS FOR THE TRANSITION HAVE ALREADY STARTED, AND O’CONNOR HAS ANNOUNCED SOME OF HIS ADMINISTRATION. WE HIRED DAN GILMAN AS THE CHIEF OF STAFF. I THINK HE HAS GREAT KNOWLEDGE OF THE CITY. WE’LL BE READY TO WALK RIGHT INTO THAT ROLE AGAIN DAY ONE, AND I THINK THAT’S SOMETHING THAT’S THAT EASES THE THE STRESS THAT WE WILL HAVE WALKING IN. O’CONNOR PLANS TO NOMINATE SHELDON WILLIAMS FOR PUBLIC SAFETY DIRECTOR. HE WAS MY APPOINTMENT TO THE CITIZENS POLICE REVIEW BOARD. PARAMEDIC. YOU KNOW, POLICE OFFICER, TRAINED FIREFIGHTER, YOU KNOW, SERVED HIS COUNTRY. AND AND I THINK, YOU KNOW, THE WORK THAT HE’S DONE IN THE COMMUNITY, HE WILL BE A GREAT FIT FOR PUBLIC SAFETY. HE’S ALSO WORKING TO KEEP GAINEY’S WORK FLOWING, LIKE EFFORTS FOR BIKE AND STREET SAFETY, AFFORDABLE HOUSING AND THE NFL DRAFT. AND O’CONNOR HAS AN ECONOMIC PLAN FOR SMALL BUSINESSES, AS WELL AS WORKING ON APPOINTING A PITTSBURGH POLICE CHIEF, STARTING THE PROCESS IN A FEW WEEKS. NOW, O’CONNOR SAYS THE TWO WERE FRIENDS BEFORE THE ELECTION, AND THEY ARE FRIENDS TODAY, SO THEY ALSO TALKED ABOUT FAMILY AND WHAT IT’S LIKE BEING A MAYOR WITH FAMILY AND CHILDREN. Pittsburgh Mayor-Elect Corey O’Connor is expected to announce his pick for the city’s next police chief. A source told Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 on Wednesday night that O’Connor will nominate Jason Lando as the next chief. He then took on and later won the mayoral seat in the general election on Nov. 5 against Republican opponent and former Pittsburgh police officer Tony Moreno.
