Pittsburgh International Airport will open its new central terminal on Tuesday, Nov. 18.

Under construction since 2021, the $1.7 billion facility is located alongside the airport’s existing post-security airside terminal, providing for a more efficient airport journey than the terminal it is replacing.

The new terminal will have a 12-lane TSA checkpoint, a 3,300-space parking garage and four outdoor terraces.

Airport officials have stressed that the terminal is tech-forward, with segmented operating systems to provide enhanced cybersecurity, for example.

Accessibility was another design focus, with considerations not only for those with mobility impairments, but for caregivers and the hearing- and vision-impaired.
