Richard L. “Rich” Townsley
OBITUARY
Richard L. “Rich” Townsley, 90, passed away on November 8, 2025 in his home, surrounded by his loved ones. He was the devoted husband of Mary (Dissinger) Townsley. They shared 63 years of marriage, creating a lifetime legacy of love and wonderful memories.
Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Jesse M. and Caroline S. Townsley. Richard was a graduate of Wyomissing High School, and attended Polytech. He worked as a machine and pipe designer. Rich was also a proud U.S. Army Veteran.
Rich was a man of strong faith, and was very active at Friedens Lutheran church in Oley, Pa for more than 50 years. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing and riding his bike; participating in more than 50 rides to raise money for MS Society. Rich was also an avid and competitive cribbage and card player.
In addition to his wife, his memory will be cherished by his children: Theresa Apgar (Gary), Jeffery Townsley (Paula), Deborah Bender (Jon), and Steven Townsley (Manoka); his 12 grandchildren; and 22 great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his brother, Jesse Townsley.
The memorial service for Richard will be celebrated on Thursday, November 13, 2025 at 10 a.m. Friedens Lutheran Church, 1076 Memorial Hwy, Oley, PA 19547, with burial to follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park. Family and friends may begin to gather at 9:30.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be in Rich’s honor to National Multiple Sclerosis Society or Miller-Keystone Blood Center.
