Erie MLK Jr. Center mourns the loss of its executive director

The long-time executive director of Erie’s Bayfront Nato, Martin Luther King Jr. Center has died.

The death of James Sherrod was confirmed earlier this evening.

Sherrod had been leading the King Center since 2008.

He also worked with the minority community investment coalition and our West Bayfront.

The board president at Bayfront Nato, William Williams, reacted Friday night, saying, “We are suffering a tremendous loss. James was not only an excellent leader for the Martin Luther King Center, he was excellent in all of his roles and obviously loved the Erie community. We ask that the family and the center be allowed to adjust and begin the grieving process.”
