SPRING TWP., Pa. – Weis Markets is giving the Helping Harvest Food Bank a big boost.

The store donated $20,000 to the food bank ahead of the busy holiday season.

Store officials gave the food bank a check in Spring Township Friday afternoon.

Weis raised the money through its “Fight Hunger” program, which brought in more than $500,000 this year.

The store normally makes a donation in December, but officials say they wanted to get the money to food banks earlier this year.
