OBITUARY
In Loving Memory of Mrs. Edith Virginia (Maxwell) Bailey
Mrs. Edith Virginia Bailey, 89, of Reading, PA, passed away peacefully on November 7, 2025. Born in Oxford, PA, she was the daughter of the late Letcher R. and Symanthia R. (Jones) Maxwell and the beloved wife of the late Mitchell F. Bailey Sr. She is survived by her children Mitchell F. Jr. (Cheryl), David A., Donald L., and Michele’ Bailey, as well as nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and many relatives and friends. Edith devoted her life to her family and the Reading community, serving with the Economic Opportunity Council and the Reading Berks County Council of Camp Fire Girls. She was a devoted church mother at St. James Chapel COGIC and a lifelong advocate for her community, education, and faith. Mrs. Bailey’s compassion, strength, and unwavering dedication will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her. A viewing and service will be held at Auman Funeral Home on Saturday, November 15, 2025 at 9am.
