ALLENTOWN, Pa. – More than 1,300 coats were collected at the 11th annual WFMZ and Lehigh Valley Phantoms Coat Drive Friday.
1,363 coats were donated at the PPL Center. More were donated and taken to a remote drop site in Bethlehem.
People donated new or gently used coats at the PPL Center in Allentown from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday. People also dropped them off at collection bins around Allentown and at the Steel Ice Center in Bethlehem.

Organizers say children’s coats are in high demand. Some familiar faces were there collecting coats.

“We just have great employees and they’re always looking for ways to give back to the community, and I really couldn’t ask for a better bunch of people. They all have good hearts,” said Barry Fisher, WFMZ-TV President and General Manager.

All donations will go to various Salvation Army programs. The coats will be distributed by the Salvation Army on Dec. 3.
Last year, we collected more than 1,000 coats.
