BENSALEM TOWNSHIP, PA — The Bensalem Township Police Department has a new K9 on the force.

Meet Taz.

The addition of Taz now brings the police department’s K9 Unit back up to six dogs, officials said.

Bensalem Police held a special ceremony recently to recognize Linda Morrin today for her donation in sponsoring the purchase of K9 Taz.

Taz is a patrol and drug detector dog whose handler is Police Officer Tom Martinka.

Taz was purchased in memory of Morrin’s father, Edward “Reds” Meyers, who passed away in 2023 at the age of 91.

Meyers was a U.S. Navy veteran who always gave back to his community. He was a resident at Juniper Village and always enjoyed the Bensalem K-9 Unit’s demonstrations at the facility.

Morrin was joined at the ceremony by her husband, Dan, and granddaughter, Sarah.

“We all wish Taz the best of luck with his assignment and expect him to have a lasting impact on the community,” police said.
