PennDOT maintenance crews will conduct bridge repairs, crack sealing and brush cutting operations at more than two dozen locations across Lehigh County from Monday, Nov. 17 through Friday, Nov. 21, with most work taking place between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m.

The maintenance work will affect roads in multiple municipalities, including sections of Interstate 78 and several state routes. Most projects will involve lane restrictions, though some locations will have no restrictions or only shoulder closures. Rain is not expected to delay any of the scheduled work, according to PennDOT.

Bridge repair work will begin Nov. 17 on Mountain Road between Reservoir Road and Route 873 in Heidelberg and Washington townships, continuing through Nov. 18 with no traffic restrictions. A second bridge repair project is scheduled for Chestnut Street between Berks County Line and Powder Valley Road in Upper Milford Township from Nov. 19 through Nov. 21, also without restrictions.

Crack sealing operations will affect numerous roads starting Nov. 17, including Sell Road in Heidelberg Township, Werleys Corner Road in Lowhill Township, Oriole Road and Long Court in Heidelberg Township, and Route 100 in Lower Macungie Township. Additional crack sealing work is scheduled for several roads in Upper Macungie Township, including portions of Route 222, Mertztown Road, Brookdale Road, and Butz Road. These projects will run through Nov. 21 with lane restrictions, some requiring flagging operations.

Brush cutting work will begin Nov. 17 on Route 378 North in Bethlehem between Hill to Hill Bridge and Route 22, affecting only the shoulder. In Washington Township, brush cutting on Church Street and Park Avenue between Route 873 and Mountain Road will require lane restrictions with flagging from Nov. 18 through Nov. 21.

Route 222 North between Cetronia Road and Route 100 in Upper Macungie Township will also see brush cutting through Nov. 21 without restrictions.

Interstate 78 will see brush cutting operations at multiple locations throughout the week. Westbound lanes between Berks County Line and Exit 60 in Upper Saucon Township will have lane restrictions Nov. 17 and 18. Shoulder restrictions will affect various segments of both eastbound and westbound I-78 in Upper Macungie and Weisenberg townships from Nov. 18 through Nov. 20.

Additional maintenance work classified as “other” will take place on Palm Road/Limeport Pike in Lower Milford Township, Lower Macungie Road in Lower Macungie Township, and Route 309 South in Upper Saucon Township at various times during the week.
