The Lackawanna County Emergency Management Agency has declared a Code Blue weather alert from 8 p.m. today until 7 a.m. Monday.

A Code Blue is issued during extreme cold, triggering a plan to help vulnerable populations, especially the homeless.

The National Weather Service is calling for mostly cloudy skies tonight with a low around 26 and west wind of 15 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 33 mph — a potential wind chill in the single digits. The chance of precipitation is 20%.

During a Code Blue alert, homeless individuals can access emergency shelter at St. Anthony’s Haven, 409 Olive St., Scranton, open 7 p.m. to 8 a.m., and Community Intervention Center, 445 N. Sixth Ave., Scranton, open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. (open later if need requires).
