Erie police are searching for a suspect after a man was stabbed in the chest during a suspected fight at a westside tavern on the early morning of Nov. 16.
Police learned of the stabbing Nov. 16 at about 2:15 a.m. after a 23-year-old man walked in to UPMC Hamot with a stab wound to the chest, Deputy Chief Rick Lorah said Nov. 17. The man was taken to the hospital by private vehicle, he said.

The man who was stabbed told police only that he was walking on Chestnut Street when an unknown man banged into him and a fight ensued, Lorah said. Police later learned that there was a reported fight at a tavern in the area involving at least six people, he said.
Erie police detectives are following up on the incident, according to Lorah. Updated information on the stabbing victim’s condition was not available Nov. 17.
