Arts Landing ahead of schedule for NFL Draft: An inside look at construction

LOOK AT THE CONSTRUCTION DOWNTOWN. THE WORK BEHIND THESE FENCES HAS BEEN UNDERWAY FOR MONTHS, CREATING A FOUR ACRE PUBLIC PARK. INSIDE, THERE WILL BE A PLAYGROUND. THERE WILL BE A STAGE, AND OF COURSE, ART. TODAY WE DID GET A BEHIND THE SCENES HARD HAT TOUR OF THAT PROGRESS INSIDE ART’S LANDING. AS WE WALK TOWARDS BASICALLY THIS MOUND OVER HERE, THAT’S THE HIGHEST POINT ON THE SITE, EIGHT FEET ABOVE STREET LEVEL, WHICH GIVES YOU THAT SLIVER OF RIVER VIEW, WHICH IS ONE OF THE REALLY COOL ASPECTS OF THE DESIGN. FROM DRONE FOUR, YOU CAN SEE THAT ELEVATION AND IT’S ACCESS TO THE ALLEGHENY RIVER. KENDRA WHITLOCK INGRAM, PITTSBURGH CULTURAL TRUST CEO, WALKED WITH US ALONG THE NEWLY PAVED PATHS, SHARING WHERE DOWNTOWN’S FIRST PLAYGROUND WILL SIT HERE ON THE EAST SIDE OF ART’S LANDING. THIS IS WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT TO SEE. THERE WILL BE BENCHES THROUGHOUT THE PARK, A BACKYARD AREA WITH LOUNGE CHAIRS, CAFE TABLES, AND POP UP FOOD VENDORS, A GARDEN WALK, A STAGE LARGE ENOUGH FOR A SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA, AS WELL AS A PICKLEBALL COURT AND A TRACK. I MEAN, THIS IS GOING TO BE LIKE, I LIKE, I LOVE TO SAY, THIS NEW SPOT WHERE YOU’LL GET TO SEE A NEW SLIVER OF RIVER FROM ANOTHER GREEN SPACE IN DOWNTOWN. I THINK THAT’S ONLY ADDITIVE TO ALL THE GREAT THINGS THAT DOWNTOWN ALREADY HAS, AND WE’RE REALLY HOPING THAT IT’LL HAVE PEOPLE LINGER IN DOWNTOWN A LITTLE BIT LONGER ONCE THIS SPACE IS OPEN, WHICH OFFICIALS SAY WILL BE BEFORE THE NFL DRAFT IN APRIL, THEY SAY THEY WILL BE HOME TO THREE RIVERS ARTS FESTIVAL, AND THEY HOPE TO PARTICIPATE IN PITTSBURGH AND THE 4TH OF JULY CELEBRATIONS COVERING ALLEGHENY COUNTY FROM
