READING, Pa. — A major water main break is disrupting service for thousands of customers in Reading on Monday night.

The break sent water gushing down Lancaster Avenue.

About 8,000 homes and businesses had low or no water pressure, according to the Reading Area Water Authority.

Crews were working to shut down the water supply, at which time service was expected to resume for some customers. Those in the 100-500 blocks of Lancaster Ave. should expect service disruptions until repairs are made.
