The Pennsylvania State Police has opened applications for its next round of cadet classes, following funding in the 2025-26 state budget for four additional training cohorts, according to a news release.

Colonel Christopher Paris, PSP Commissioner, said maintaining staffing levels is critical to the agency’s mission, according to the release. “If you are dedicated to serving others, willing to work diligently to strengthen your community, and committed to maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and integrity, we encourage you to consider a career as a Pennsylvania state trooper,” Paris is quoted as saying.
Applications are due by Dec. 19 through the Commonwealth’s employment website. Candidates must be at least 20 years old, hold a high school diploma or GED, and have a valid driver’s license. Training lasts about 28 weeks, covering law, physical fitness, and police operations. Graduates start at an annual salary of $71,647, with pay rising to about $95,557 after five years.
