Susquehanna Valley snow: First of the season falls in Mifflin, Juniata counties
IT IS 647 AND THE RAIN, EVEN SNOW SHOWERS FAR NORTH. COMING TO A QUICK END. YOU CAN SEE THEM EXITING NOW WEST OF THE SUSQUEHANNA RIVER, DRYING OUT EAST OF THE RIVER. LAST FEW SHOWERS SHOULD BE PULLING OUT AFTER 7 A.M. 8:00 AT THE VERY LATEST. TO SEE ANY LEFTOVER SPRINKLES. BUT I DO THINK MOST OF THIS WILL WIND DOWN JUST IN TIME FOR THE HEART OF THE MORNING COMMUTE. HERE’S OUR NEWS EIGHT STORM TEAM FORECAST. TODAY WE START OUT WITH RAIN MOVING EAST, CLOUDY AND DAMP CONDITIONS ON YOUR MORNING DRIVE. WATCH OUT FOR THOSE WET ROADS AND ANY WET, SLIPPERY LEAVES. THIS AFTERNOON WE GET TO 46 DEGREES. MOSTLY CLOUDY, KEEPING IT COOL. WINDS REMAIN LIGHT AND THEN THIS EVENING, PERHAPS SOME CLEARING. A FEW PEEKS OF SUN LATE THIS AFTERNOON INTO THE EVENING. BUT THE CLOUDS. THEY RACE RIGHT BACK IN OVERNIGHT TONIGHT. THAT’S GOING TO CAP OUR LOWS IN THE LOWER 30S WITH LIGHT WINDS. IT WILL BE A CHILLY NIGHT AND TOMORROW WE SEE MOSTLY CLOUDY SKIES, CLOUDS HOLDING FIRM OVER THE AREA, LOCKING IN THE 40 DEGREE TEMPERATURES. SO ANOTHER CLOUDY AND COOL DAY WITH LIGHT WINDS TOMORROW. RIGHT NOW OUR COLDEST SPOT IS IN LEWISTOWN. PLEASE USE CAUTION IN MIFFLIN COUNTY, ESPECIALLY AT ELEVATION. YOU GOT SOME WET SNOW ON THE ROADS LAST NIGHT. NOW THE SYSTEM IS EXITING, BUT THERE STILL COULD BE SOME SLICK SPOTS ON UNTREATED SURFACES, SO JUST USE CAUTION AT ELEVATION. MIFFLIN AND JUNIATA COUNTIES. EVERYBODY ELSE IS IN THE 30S HERE. EVEN SOME 40S ON THE MAP. YORK AT 40, CHAMBERSBURG, 40 LANCASTER AND HARRISBURG 39 DEGREES APIECE. WIND SPEEDS ARE LIGHT, SO BEHIND THE SYSTEM AS IT EXITS, THEY’RE NOT GOING TO PICK UP. THEY’LL STAY AROUND 5 TO 10MPH OUT OF THE NORTHWEST TODAY. THERE IT GOES. SYSTEM ZIPPING ON BY AREA OF LOW PRESSURE, HEADING OUT TO SEA BEHIND IT. THIS IS OUR WEATHER FOR LATER TODAY. TONIGHT, TOMORROW. PRETTY QUIET, PRETTY UNEVENTFUL. WE DON’T HAVE ANOTHER CHANCE OF SHOWERS UNTIL LATE FRIDAY. SO HERE’S THE PREDICTOR SHOWING LOW PRESSURE MOVING AWAY I THINK PREDICTORS A LITTLE OPTIMISTIC COMPLETELY CLEARING US OUT HERE THIS EVENING. BUT WE COULD SEE SOME PEEKS OF SUNSHINE AS HIGH PRESSURE BUILDS ACROSS NEW YORK STATE. CLOUDS FILL BACK IN TONIGHT. THEY HANG TOUGH TOMORROW. AND THAT’S GOING TO GIVE US 40S FOR HIGHS AND POSSIBLY 50 DEGREES SNEAKING IN HERE AS WE HEAD INTO FRIDAY NOTICE WE GET SOME MORE BREAKS OF SUNSHINE FRIDAY AFTERNOON. THERE’S A FRONT TO OUR NORTH, ANOTHER FRONT TO OUR SOUTH, AND THIS SYSTEM MAY JUST GRAZE US LATE FRIDAY EARLY SATURDAY WITH A COUPLE OF SHOWERS, SO I’M NOT SEEING A SUBSTANTIAL CHANCE OF RAIN AT THE END OF THE WEEK HERE. SUNDAY LOOKS DRY, MORE SUNSHINE, MILDER. 50 FOR MONDAY. NICE TO START THANKSGIVING WEEK IF YOU’RE TRAVELING EARLY IN THE WEEK, YOU SHOULD GET BY WITH DRY WEATHER, BUT I DO SEE SOME RAIN STARTING TO MOVE IN LATE TUESDAY INTO WEDNESDAY FOR THAT BIG TRAVEL DAY. YESTERDAY WE WERE THINKING IT COULD BE WEDNESDAY OR THURSDAY. IT LOOKS LIKE WEDNESDAY IS A BETTER BET RIGHT NOW, AND WEDNESDAY’S HIGH IS GOING TO BE MILD AT 56. BUT BEHIND THAT SYSTEM IT TURNS BLUSTERY AND COLDER FOR THANKSGIVING AND BLACK FRIDAY. CHECK OUT THOSE
