Edward J. Zemalkowski

OBITUARY

Edward J. Zemalkowski, 83, of Scranton, died Sunday evening at home. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Carol Howey, who died in 2003.

Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Edward and Stephanie Meleski Zemalkowski. Ed was a graduate of Scranton Technical High school and was a proud US Army veteran. He was employed at Arlington Industries until his retirement. He was a member of Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Church, St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish, Scranton. Ed was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with his family and the many pets he had throughout his life.

Surviving are his son, Jospeh Zemalkowski and his wife, Karen, Scranton; daughters, Christine Zemalkowski and husband, Glen Garey, Newton Twp.; and Amy Zemalkowski, Scranton; a grandson, Evan Zemalkowski; a sister, Arlene Hallesky; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Eleanor Wiscosky.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. in Sacred Hearts Church, St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish, 1217 Prospect Ave., South Scranton. Interment, Sacred Hearts Cemetery, Davis St., Scranton. Those attending the funeral Friday morning are asked to go directly to church.

Family and friends will be received Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Nicholas Chomko Funeral Home, 1132 Prospect Ave., South Scranton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Griffin Pond Animal Shelter, 967 Griffin Pond Rd., South Abington Twp., PA 18411.
