Highs will remain below average over the next 2 days, in the mid-to-upper 40s. Shower chances arrive again late Friday into Saturday morning. A chance of showers are possible closer to Thanksgiving.
WGAL NEWS EIGHT. STARTED OUR DAY OFF WITH ROUNDS OF RAIN AND YES, SNOW IN NORTHERN PORTIONS OF THE SUSQUEHANNA VALLEY. CLOUDS ARE STILL OUT THERE. THEY’RE GOING TO STICK AROUND THROUGH THE NIGHT TONIGHT, AND MUCH OF OUR THURSDAY. AND THAT’S GOING TO HELP KEEP TEMPERATURES DOWN BELOW AVERAGE. BUT TEMPERATURES GO UP AND RAIN CHANCES RISE AGAIN LATE IN THE DAY ON FRIDAY. AND SOME OF THOSE SHOWERS WILL BE AROUND TO START OUR WEEKEND. BUT NOT TO END IT. TAKE A LIVE LOOK RIGHT NOW OVER LANCASTER. YOU CAN SEE THAT THAT BLANKET OF CLOUDS OUT THERE ACROSS THE REGION. WE’RE AT 43, IN THE RED ROSE CITY WITH A GENTLE BREEZE OUT OF THE NORTH AT SEVEN MILES PER HOUR. ALL IS QUIET NOW ON LIVE RADAR, BUT YOU CAN SEE WE STILL HAVE THAT THICK CLOUD COVER ACROSS THE MAJORITY OF THE VALLEY. BUT THE CLOUDS ARE STARTING TO BREAK UP AND TRYING TO DO THAT FROM NORTH TO SOUTH. BUT NOTICE MORE CLOUDS ARE MOVING IN OVER WESTERN PENNSYLVANIA. THOSE WILL MOVE IN THROUGH THE EVENING AND STICK AROUND. SO SOME CLEARING AT TIMES LOOK FOR TEMPERATURES TO START DIPPING DOWN INTO THE UPPER 30S ACROSS THE VALLEY WILL BOTTOM OUT IN THE LOWER 30S FOR OUR LOWS TONIGHT AND THEN FOR TOMORROW. IT IS GOING TO BE A GLOOMY BUT RAIN FREE DAY. HIGHS WILL BE IN THE UPPER 40S AND TOPPING OFF TO NEAR 50 DEGREES IN A FEW SPOTS. BUT IT’S LATE FRIDAY EVENING. HERE WE ARE AT 6 A.M. ON SATURDAY. THAT’S WHEN WE STOPPED AND YOU CAN SEE SOME SPOTTY SHOWERS WILL BE AROUND. NOT LOOKING FOR MUCH, LOOKING FOR ABOUT A 10TH TO A QUARTER OF AN INCH OF RAIN. SO JUST SOME WET ROADWAYS WILL BE OUT THERE LATE FRIDAY NIGHT INTO VERY EARLY ON SATURDAY. IT STAYED COOL TODAY. WE HAVE THAT WINTER CHILL OUT THERE HIGH TODAY WAS ONLY 44. START THE DAY OFF AT 38 DEGREES AND FOR THE CALENDAR DAY, JUST OVER A THIRD OF AN INCH OF RAIN OUT AT HIGH. BUT WHEN YOU GO BACK AND INCLUDE YESTERDAY EVENING, SOME SPOTS OF THE VALLEY DID RECEIVE MORE LIKE GREENCASTLE, MORE THAN HALF AN INCH OF RAIN. THAT WAS ALSO THE CASE IN CASHTOWN IN DOVER. QUARRYVILLE A LITTLE OVER 4/10 OF AN INCH OF RAIN DURING THE PAST 24 HOURS. TEMPERATURES COOLER THAN NORMAL RIGHT NOW 41 IF YOU’RE WATCHING US IN ELIZABETHTOWN, 42 IN QUARRYVILLE 43 AT THIS HOUR IN GETTYSBURG, AND TEMPERATURES ARE EVEN COLDER THAN THAT WHERE WE HAVE SOME BREAKS IN THE CLOUDS LIKE WILLIAMSPORT UP TOWARDS SCRANTON RIGHT NOW SITTING AT 37 DEGREES. BUT WE’LL JUST SEE THOSE CLOUDS STICK AROUND THROUGH THIS EVENING AND ON INTO TONIGHT AND FOR TOMORROW. THANKS TO THE WINDS TURNING OUT OF THE SOUTHEAST, THAT’S GOING TO BRING IN THAT MOISTURE FROM THE ATLANTIC BACK INTO THE HEART OF THE VALLEY. AND THAT’S WHY TOMORROW IS GOING TO BE SO DULL AND GRAY AND DREARY AND ALSO CHILLY. ON INTO FRIDAY, THOUGH, WE’LL SEE SOME BREAKS IN THE CLOUDS AT TIMES. BUT AFTER SUNSET, HERE COME SOME SPOTTY LIGHT RAIN SHOWERS. BEST CHANCE FOR THOSE SHOWERS WILL BE SOUTH OF THE TURNPIKE TOWARDS THE MARYLAND LINE, AND WE’LL KEEP THOSE SHOWER CHANCES AROUND TO START THE WEEKEND, BUT NOT TO END IT. TEMPERATURES WILL BE WARMER BACK INTO THE LOWER 50S FOR YOUR SATURDAY, MID 50S FOR SUNDAY. SINCE WE’RE EXPECTING A LITTLE BIT MORE SUNSHINE FOR THE BACK HALF OF THE WEEKEND, BUT TEMPERATURES ARE GOING TO TREND UPWARD. BACK UP CLOSER OR A LITTLE BIT ABOVE AVERAGE AS WE GO THROUGH MUCH OF NEXT WEEK. WE’RE TALKING TEMPERATURES BACK INTO THE LOW TO MID 50S. AND THEN THEN THE RAIN CHANCES WILL START INCREASING AS WE GET CLOSER TO THANKSGIVING. IT LOOKS LIKE THE SHOWER CHANCES WILL BE HIGHEST LATE TUESDAY INTO WEDNESDAY. AND THEN LOOK WHAT HAPPENS TO THE TEMPERATURES FOR THE HOLIDAY. DOWN THEY GO AS THAT STORM PULLS AWAY. Clouds will linger throughout the evening, with only some clearing anticipated, as high pressure builds across the Northeast. Temperatures will continue dropping through the lower 40s with light winds.Tonight, lows will fall to 32 degrees under mostly cloudy skies.Thursday will feature lots of clouds, light winds, and highs in the mid-to-upper 40s.By Friday, a few breaks of sun are possible, leading to milder highs in the low 50s.
