ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Thanks to the generosity of viewers and fans, WFMZ and the Lehigh Valley Phantoms collected more than 1400 coats at our annual coat drive.

On Wednesday, many of those coats were dropped off at the Salvation Army in Allentown.

“These coats will go to members of our community adults, children, the elderly, the homeless, and pretty much anybody that is in need of warmth throughout the winter months,” says Major Ismael Correa, Corps. Officer, Salvation Army.

WMFZ and the Lehigh Valley Phantoms teamed up to keep people warm once again with our 11th annual Coat Drive.

“An opportunity every single year to really make a difference in the community that we are always excited to be a part of,” says Jacob Long, Client Services Manager of the Lehigh Valley Phantoms.

“We have a couple of teams of volunteers that will be sorting them out by size gender,” says Correa.

Those coats will be available at the organization’s gymnasium for their coat distribution on December 3rd.

“Thanks to your gifts of donated goods we’re able to supply some of that need,” says Correa.

Another batch will go to their children’s services foster care and adoption program.

“The number of coats every year that we see is astonishing, Phantoms fans, the people who live here in the Lehigh Valley are so generous,” says Correa

And that generosity goes a long way.
