State Sen. Nick Miller, D-14th, alongside state Rep. Mike Schlossberg, D-132nd and Beverly Gruber, chairwoman and chief executive officer of the Lehigh County Agricultural Society, held a ribbon cutting of the new ADA-accessible doors, floor renovations and bleachers Nov. 14 at the Allentown Fairgrounds and Farmers Market.

This was made possible through a $250,000 grant from the American Rescue Plan Act, secured by Miller and Schlossberg to facilitate these improvements.

In addition, Miller’s office held complimentary office hours to assist residents with any state or local related questions.

“The Allentown Fairgrounds and Farmers Market are true Lehigh Valley staples,” Miller said. “My first job was here at this market, and it taught me the value of having fresh, local food right in your neighborhood. These renovations were long overdue, and I’m proud to have worked with Rep. Schlossberg to secure this $250,000 grant to ensure the Allentown Fairgrounds and Farmers Market remain accessible and welcoming to everyone.”

“The Allentown Fairgrounds is truly an icon of the Lehigh Valley, and the Allentown Farmers Market is a destination for thousands of people each week, including seniors who can walk a couple of blocks to buy fresh food,” Schlossberg said. “It was a pleasure to work with Sen. Miller to secure the funds that will help make it possible for people to continue to access this important community space.”

Gruber, chairwoman and chief executive officer of the Lehigh County Agricultural Society, the nonprofit that oversees the fairgrounds and the fair commented on the renovations.

“We are incredibly grateful for this funding support,” Gruber said. “It has allowed us to complete long-planned improvements, including ADA-accessible doors and updated flooring in the Allentown Fairgrounds Farmers Market, and it supports future investments like movable bleachers for our events. These upgrades are essential to keeping our facilities welcoming and accessible for our community.”
